Support Group for Depression and Bipolar Disorder
People living with depression or bipolar disorder now have a new place to find hope, help and support. The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) will be forming a new local chapter, this one with a Christian emphasis. Called, DBSA St. Louis Christian Community, this unique group will be confidential, peer-led and Christ -centered.
Location: West Hills Community Church, 13250 South Outer 40 in Town & Country, Mo.
Time: Every Tuesday @ 7 p.m. in The Gathering Room (walk in main doors, up the stairs and to the left).
Further details: DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also know as manic depression). DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support, which is an important component of recovery from a mental illness for many people.
This group, DBSA St. Louis Christian Community, is open to anyone of any church denomination. All the group requires is that participants understand that it is faith-based and Christ- centered where people who love Jesus can benefit. Prayer and Scripture reading are components of the meeting. From time to time, mental health professionals in and out of the Christian community will speak.
